Accounts Senior (Practice)
Our client is a fast-growing, multidisciplinary corporate services firm providing a unique ecosystem of Accounting and Corporate Finance solutions. They are currently seeking an experienced Accounts Senior to join their Accountancy division.
This is a high-impact role for an ambitious practice accountant who enjoys working closely with a diverse portfolio of SMEs and entrepreneurs. Rather than just "crunching numbers," you will act as a key technical point of contact, ensuring meticulous financial reporting while supporting the firm’s broader mission of business resilience and growth.
Key Responsibilities
-
Portfolio Management: Manage the end-to-end accounting requirements for a dedicated portfolio of clients, ensuring all statutory and internal deadlines are met with precision.
-
SME & Entrepreneurial Accounts: Lead the preparation of Year-End Statutory Accounts (FRS 102/105) for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders, delivering insightful commentary to business owners.
-
VAT & Tax Compliance: Manage the VAT process for your portfolio, including quarterly returns and providing proactive advice on MTD (Making Tax Digital) compliance.
-
Payroll & CIS: Oversee payroll submissions and CIS returns, ensuring seamless integration with clients’ financial records and HMRC regulations.
-
Business Advisory: Assist business owners in interpreting their management accounts, identifying trends, and providing data-driven insights to support their strategic decisions.
-
Inter-departmental Collaboration: Work alongside the firm’s Recovery and Recruitment specialists to identify opportunities where the firm can provide holistic support to clients in transition or growth.
The Candidate
-
Background: A minimum of 3–5 years of experience within a UK-based Accountancy Practice is essential.
-
Technical Excellence: Strong, hands-on experience in preparing year-end accounts, VAT returns, and payroll for a variety of SME sectors.
-
Software Proficiency: Highly competent in cloud accounting ecosystems (Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage) and enthusiastic about leveraging technology to improve client workflows.
-
Communication: A confident communicator who can build rapport with entrepreneurs and explain complex financial data in a clear, jargon-free manner.
-
Qualifications: Ideally ACCA/ACA part-qualified or fully qualified. Candidates who are "Qualified by Experience" (QBE) with a significant practice background are also encouraged to apply.
Why Join This Firm?
This is not a traditional, siloed accounting firm. You will be part of a forward-thinking team where accounting expertise is a core pillar of a much larger corporate support network.
-
Professional Development: Gain exposure to specialised areas like Corporate Finance and Compliance that you won't find in a standard practice.
-
Dynamic Client Base: Work with a vibrant range of entrepreneurs, from high-growth startups to established firms navigating complex changes.
-
Modern Culture: Join a firm that values clarity, authentic communication, and a proactive approach to client service.
